Klemmer and Associates provides leadership and personal development training services with the goal of helping people ethically create the life they want. Through live, experiential workshops, the company guides participants in achieving transformational change by altering the subconscious belief systems that drive unwanted behaviors. Klemmer was founded in 1995, and over the intervening decades it has helped tens of thousands of attendees shift their perceptions and become bold, empathetic leaders.
Klemmer’s founder, Brian Klemmer, established the company with the understanding that traditional how-to workshops don’t work. The title of his first book, If How-To’s Were Enough, We Would All Be Skinny, Rich and Happy, summarized his conclusion that, while these workshops provide a useful framework for change, most participants fail to apply what they’ve learned. Similarly, while motivational seminars generate excitement, the excitement fades, and attendees tend to quickly fall back into their subconscious beliefs.
Klemmer refers to these subconscious belief systems as “sunglasses” in that they are the filters through which people choose to view the world. The company’s workshops help participants become aware of these perceptions with the goal of eventually breaking them down. In fact, the company’s most popular workshop, Personal Mastery, focuses on eliciting revelations across 10 traits.
Over the years, Klemmer’s Personal Mastery course has garnered positive reviews from attendees, with 99% of those surveyed between 1995 and 2010 saying the workshop met their expectations and 92% saying it exceeded them. More recently, from 2023 to 2025, Personal Mastery has maintained a 4.9 out of 5 rating from participants.
In addition to Personal Mastery, Klemmer offers additional core courses: Advanced Leadership, which focuses on spurring personal breakthroughs; Heart of the Samurai, which centers on creating leaders who embody the drive of a samurai and the compassion of a servant; and Samurai Camp, a four-month immersive experience during which participants set and meet personal and professional goals.

The numbers tell an inspiring story: In November 2025, Klemmer hosted sessions of its Samurai Camp 50 and Samurai Camp Virtual 16 in which 90% of participants reported achieving their personal goals. In addition, more than 70% reached the professional goals they’d set for themselves. As a group, the attendees also generated more than $15 million in new revenue, while giving back to the world through more than 10,000 hours of community service.
Read More“Compassionate Samurai” is a term that was coined by Brian Klemmer to describe the ideal type of leader. The founder of the leadership-training organization Klemmer, he came up with this term after coming to the realization that there are two types of people in the world: those who are honest and benevolent but lack the tools to effect real change, and those who consistently make things happen but have no regard for the damage they cause in the process.
